Skin prep is probably the most important part of any makeup routine, and taking the time to nourish it before your senior session is especially important. Remember ladies your foundation is only as good as the skin that’s underneath.
So let’s throw out the old myth that you need to run out and buy a bunch of products, because you don’t need a million products or a long list of steps in your pre-makeup skin care routine either.
First things first, I know you’re probably tired of hearing it, but drinking plenty of water is essential to maintaining healthy skin. Water keeps your cells hydrated which in turn makes your complexion brighter. So grab your bottle and take a sip while you read on.
No matter your skin type (whether it be oily, combination, normal or dry) you will need a gentle cleanser and a good moisturizer. I recommend the Cetaphil Daily Cleanser and pair it with their daily facial moisturizers. I love these products because they are oil free, great for every skin type and has SPF built into it. You can find these locally at the mini mart or order them off of Amazon.
Start with your cleanser and begin by applying it to your face in a circular motion. Also, make sure to use lukewarm water to rinse. If you use too hot of water it will end up drying your skin out and that ends up creating texture that your makeup wont necessarily be able to cover. Next, pat your skin dry with a face cloth and then apply your moisturizer all over your face and let it soak into your skin for about 5 min before moving on to your makeup application.
